About Select CBT
www.selectcbt.co.uk
As a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, I offer CBT across the Berkshire area. Until recently I was employed by a primary care NHS trust where I delivered CBT to people experiencing anxiety disorders, depression, phobias, insomnia, anger and self esteem issues. I also provide EMDR which is a fast effective way of overcoming trauma and anxiety issues. I now have a full time private practice.
Therapy can be a daunting process, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I believe in taking an open-minded, informal approach to the difficulties you are experiencing. CBT is a short term and effective form of therapy, where one can learn to understand the development of difficulties and how to effectively overcome them, without having to commit to years of therapy.
If you’re looking for an experienced and down to earth professional for a confidential, safe environment to talk, then contact me to discuss things further. I offer a free initial consultation to discuss whether you feel treatment is right for you.
Any questions or queries, please feel free to get in touch. If you are not happy or not sure, there is no obligation to take treatment forward any further. I see clients in Basingstoke and Reading, and I am flexible with times including evenings and weekends.
A bit about me: Im a very relaxed individual and try not to take myself too seriously. Alongside my passion for psychology, I love to play sports and socialise. Im originally from Hertfordshire, but have settled down in Berkshire over the last couple of years.
My training, work experience and any achievement
I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology (BSc (Hons) Psych), a Certificate in Counselling Skills (Couns Cert), a Masters degree in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MSc CBT) and trained in EMDR.
I have extensive experience working within mental health in various settings, both inpatient and outpatient. My previous experience has included severe and enduring mental health problems, such as Personality Disorders and Eating Disorders and I have provided both individual and group treatments. I have experience of working with adolescents, adults and older adults, and I have incorporated family elements into my work.
Alongside a CBT approach to my work, I incorporate a person centred approach and use elements of Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
As well as a Masters degree in CBT, I have undergone considerable training throughout my career and continue to update and improve my practice through regular supervision and continuing professional development (CPD) events. I have also undergone my own personal therapy, which I feel allows me to understand the perspective of my clients more.
